Every year since 1959 we provide in our annual report an overview of the latest developments and tendencies in the M&A business, in the field of politics, taxes as well as other current issues. "2011 was an extremely contradictory year: whereas the M&A market was almost booming in the first half, the second half of the year was overshadowed by the government debt crisis in the U.S. and the euro zone leading to an overall crunch of confidence…Foremost solvent strategic buyers not only from Germany but also from China, Japan, India and the Arabic region kept a lid on well managed German manufacturing companies in 2011. In cooperation with our worldwide organization global M&A we succeeded to gain some of these buyers for our midcap clients. For this reason our own business was performing remarkably well: we are expecting some considerable closings by the end of the year and are looking optimistically for a slight upstream on the M&A market in 2012 despite the recent economic slowdown. Our order backlog is currently very strong as the demand of strategic buyers, financial investors and family offices for well-positioned companies remains considerably high."
